Too big, too small,
size does matter, after all.
Zu groß, zu klein,
er könnte etwas größer sein.
Mercedes Benz und Autobahn,
alleine in das Ausland fahren
Reise Reise, Fahrvergnügen
ich will nur Spaß, mich nicht verlieben.

Just a little bit...
Just a little bitch...

You've got a pussy
I have a dick ahh
so what's the problem?
let's do it quick!
So take me now
before it's too late
life is too short, I can't wait!
Take me now! Oh, don't you see?
I can't get laid in Germany!

Too short, to tall
it doesn't matter, one size fits all,
zu groß, zu klein,
der Schlagbaum sollte oben sein!

Schönes Fräulein, Lust auf mehr?
Blitzkrieg mit dem Fleischgewehr!
Schnaps im Kopf, du holde Braut,
steck Bratwurst in dein Sauerkraut.

Just a little bit...
Be my little bitch...

You've got a pussy
I have a dick ahh
so what's the problem
let's do it quick!
So take me now
before it's too late
life is too short
so i can't wait!
Take me now oh don't you see?
I can't get laid in Germany!

Germany! Germany!

Lyric © Rammstein
Too big, too small
Size does matter, after all
Too big, too small
He could be a bit bigger
Mercedes Benz and autobahn
Driving abroad alone
Journey, journey*, driving pleasure
I just want fun, not to fall in love

Just a little bit…
Just a little bitch…

You’ve got a pussy
I have a dick**
So what’s the problem?
Let’s do it quick
So take me now
before it’s too late
Life’s too short so I can’t wait
Take me now oh don’t you see
I can’t get laid in Germany

Too short, too tall
Doesn’t matter, one size fits all
Too big, too small
The boom barrier should be upright

Beautiful lady, (do you) desire more
Blitzkrieg with the fleshy weapon
Schnaps on the brain, you lovely bride
Stick a bratwurst*** into your sauerkraut***

Just a little bit…
Be my little bitch…

You’ve got a pussy
I have a dick
So what’s the problem?
Let’s do it quick
So take me now
Before it’s too late
Life’s too short
So I can’t wait
Take me now oh don’t you see
I can’t get laid in Germany

Germany!

*Reise is journey or the imperative of reisen (make a journey!), but Reise, reise means arise, arise and is used in German sailors’ jargon as a wake-up call
**Dickah could either be the way Till sings it or it could be the German phrase for “thick thing”
***Bratwurst is a German sausage and sauerkraut is a type of fermented cabbage that is traditionally served with a bratwurst.

Your translation of schlagbaum is wrong.
Schlagbaum is a barrier that prevents cars from crossing the rail road when a train is coming. you can check google for pictures.
der Schlagbaum sollte oben sein! means that the (movable) barrier is up in the air?(cars can pass trough again), synonym for an erection.

This song is deliciously mocking. Sometimes it’s the most straight-forward songs that end up being the most clever. The horribly cheesy innuendo, the blunt lyrics–it’s like they wrote an ode to all the crappy and borderline pathetic attempts people use just to get laid. I can’t help but laugh whenever I hear it.

The tune is quite catchy as well. And as for the video, well, I found it equally hilarious. It’s just so blatant–how can one not laugh?

Personally, I think the whole purpose of making the video as graphic as it is, or even just the song lyrics, is to demonstrate how words speak louder than meanings (especially in America, hence the English chorus- the only part that actually blatantly states anything sexual). People are so ignorant that they will hear a few words of something, decide that these words are offensive, and try to demonize it. However, in this case, the video is actually obscene, and the lyrics are quite obvious, so I don’t know if those are Rammstein’s intentions. But regardless, the issue which I mentioned is extremely prevalent in America.

  35. PowderBlue UNITED STATES
    6:24 am on November 10th, 2009

How do you mean, words speak louder than meanings? As in, people focus on the immediate effect of a word, firing off a reflexive reaction, completely forgetting to think about what they just heard? If that’s what you’re talking about then, yeah, you’re absolutely right.

With regards to the lyrics, let’s not forget “Steck Bratwurst in dein Saurkraut” as being awesomely sexual and blatant. But I do admit that, by having the chorus in English, they’re really bringing home the whole mockery angle of the song.

  48. Taryn UNITED STATES

    To Reaping John,

I think the hostility towards you is because you didn’t really acknowledge that Rammstein was actually being clever by making it seem like a shallow, blatant sex video. While the song can take on many meanings like their other songs, what I gathered from it was more of what PowderBlue commented, which was that they are showing some of their artistic ability by being satirical. Till sings of things that are associated with the Germans frequently by other countries, namely America, and sings of how getting sex shouldn’t be such a trivial game. Sex is just a matter of pleasure for both parties, but it is often exploited and put on a pedestal. So for me, Rammstein is taking a look at sex and stereotypes and laughing at how people react when they are brought up.

So its kind of a running joke for me to see people get upset about a video, or anything for that matter, without delving into what it might actually stand for, instead just judging it by its surface (like people often do).

I am particularly amused by Till’s choice of words in this song; to someone who speaks no German whatsoever (for example, most Americans), it would sound almost as if he were just spouting random things in German: “Mercedes-Benz und Autobahn”, “Fahrvergnügen”, “Blitzkrieg”, “Bratwurst in dein Sauerkraut”. Which would seem to fit in well with the whole theme; he can’t get laid in Germany, so he might as well try some English-speaking pussy, if you will.

Another thing that really amused me when I first heard this song is that it almost entirely contradicts the subtle double entendres and creative, vivid imagery which are typical of Rammstein lyrics. It’s like the speaker has grown utterly tired of trying to charm women into his pants, so he just gets straight to the point — “you’ve got a pussy, I’ve got a dick; shouldn’t we be fucking right about now?”

  64. lonelysphinx

i dont understand what ppl are having such fits about the song. honestly it is what it is. who cares what its about its great anyway u look at it or translate it. besides its not the first sexual relates song that rammstein has written. it happens to be a more catchier one i think.

  65. Ian
    9:36 am on January 26th, 2010

Some Spaniard asked why “blitzkrieg” wasn’t translated and the answer is because the word has been somewhat adopted into English because of our role in world war II and the infamy of the German blitzkriegs.

As for the song, I have to say that the music is incredibly catchy…the lyrics are retarded. I do sincerely believe they made it as a joke because obviously most of their serious songs are quite meaningful with alot of messages. This was more like something you do to be stupid, then realize it’s so hilarious that you want to actually do it. But who really cares what anyone on here thinks anyway?

  66. Brian
    6:28 am on February 6th, 2010

Anyone not from the U.S. would probably have a more difficult time with gathering any meaning from this, besides being blatantly offensive. However, I must say that the satire and criticism of both American music and sex lives is absolutely spectacular in this song. For instance, about every other song on American radio is a thinly-veiled reference to sex, so why not just come out and state it, right? You have a pussy, I have a dick, what’s the problem? hahaha. The music video really ties it all together, with portraying the stereotypical sex-crazed Americans (playboy, partier, etc.). Plus, it’s just so damn catchy!

  67. Kazzandra
    1:59 am on February 10th, 2010

I agree with most everyone on here, but I am really glad to see other Rammstein fans disagreeing with some of the decisions made for the video and this song.
I know we are pretty used to the shock factor by now, and I appreciate the satire of American double standards (don’t talk directly about sex, but make EVERYTHING about sex) and the song/video is all in good fun, but to an outsider, a non-Rammstein fan, it would be very easy to see this song/video as endorsing America’s sex/porn crazed culture, playing right into it to try to get more fans. I don’t think that’s what’s happening here, but I can see why people who don’t know Rammstein’s history would think that.

Hm, not the most poetic lyrics I’ve seen them come up with, but catchy all the same XD Haven’t seen the music video sadly, obviously heard about it though.

It seems this song is made for the English– probably US– speaker. Not only are there English lyrics, obviously, but the German words that are batted about in the US are used: Autobahn, Mercedes Benz, Bratwurst, Sauerkraut, Schnaps, even Blitzkrieg. Even the use of Reise, Reise pokes a bit of fun at the translation controversy over its meaning. It seems to be another “Amerika,” except just teasing our sex-phobic/sex-philic conflicts, which is what the video does as well.
